To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great 20th-century composer Arnold Schoenberg and promote contemporary music composition and music theory research, the Composition and Compositional Theory Society of China Musicians Association, in collaboration with the School of Music of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, is taking the lead globally in launching commemorative and academic events. They are planning to jointly host the "Arnold Schoenberg's 150th Celebration An International Conference" from November 3 to 5, 2023.

• Ulrike Anton, Director of the Schoenberg Center in Vienna 
• Severine Neff, renowned music theorist and Schoenberg research expert 
• Joseph Auner, renowned music theorist and Schoenberg research expert 
• Therese Muxeneder, renowned expert in Schoenberg literature research 
• Gerold Gruber, Professor at the Center for Music Analysis, Theory, and History at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna
• Tod Machover, renowned composer and academic head of the MIT Media Lab

As an important part of the global commemorative events for Schoenberg, during the conference, there will be a concert featuring Schoenberg's chamber music works at the Concert Hall of Longgang Cultural Center on the evening of November 3. Additionally, on the evening of November 4, the opera Schoenberg in Hollywood, composed by American composer Tod Machover, will be performed at the Grand Theater of Longgang Cultural Center.

Schoenberg in Hollywood, an opera

The chamber opera Schoenberg in Hollywood by American composer Tod Machover centers around composer Arnold Schoenberg's Hollywood meeting with film producer Irving Thalberg. The work tells the story of Arnold Schoenberg's life through various flashbacks and transports us to Vienna at the turn of the century.
