From June 18 to 21, ethnomusicologist, Prof. ZHANG Boyu of the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen, was invited to participate in the "Fourteenth International Doctoral Workshop in Ethnomusicology" as a keynote speaker. The workshop was hosted by the Center for World Music at the University of Hildesheim in Germany. During the event, Prof. ZHANG, on behalf of the Musicology Division of the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen, signed a cooperation with the Center for World Music (CWM) of the University of Hildesheim Foundation.

The workshop gathered 18 doctoral students from Germany, France, the UK, Australia, Finland, Norway, Canada, Ireland, Slovakia, Portugal, the USA, and China, who presented their doctoral research topics. Keynote speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Olha Kolomyyets from Lviv University, Ukraine, and Prof. Dr. ZHANG Boyu. Ethnomusicologist Prof. Dr. Philip Bohlman from the University of Chicago also participated.
During the speech, Prof. ZHANG Boyu addressed "Musicology / Ethnomusicology in China: Conflicts between East and West and Music and Its Social Contexts." He encouraged students to explore music from around the world, regardless of their background, motivating them to experience and experiment with music beyond their own culture. His research examines the functions of music in society.

The cooperation agreement between the Musicology Division of the School and CWM focuses on faculty exchange, student exchange, academic collaboration, and information sharing, aiming to enhance international academic exchanges and promote the development of the Musicology Division's internationalization, academic exchanges, interdisciplinary perspectives, and global reputation.
