Biography

LO Hau-man is currently a faculty member at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Horn and Composition, and obtained the Doctor of Music in composition from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he studied composition with Mr. Law Wing-fai, Prof. David Gwilt, and Prof. CHAN Wing Wah, conducting with Miran Kojian and John Harding.

He has written music for various media, including dance, drama, multi-media performances, chamber music, orchestral music, opera, church music, jingles, and popular songs. His works have been performed in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, Germany, France, China, Australia, Norway, and New Zealand. His opera Legend of Zheng baozai was awarded "the best serious music" in the 2010 CASH Golden Sail Award.

LO taught at the Hong Kong Institution of Education, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is the former Chairman of Hong Kong Composers' Guild, and is now the Senior College Tutor of Chung Chi College, a guest professor of Tianjin Conservatory of Music, and the Chairman of Hong Kong Band Directors' Association. He is active as a composer as well as a conductor.
