Dr. Ziming REN
Lecturer
Ziming REN, Doctor of Piano Performance (Klavier Konzertexamen), is currently serving as a lecturer at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He is a pianist, collaborative artist, and educator, recognized internationally as an artist of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) and a featured artist on the British classical label Sheva Collection. He graduated from the University Mozarteum Salzburg in Austria and the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
In his teaching career, he served as a piano lecturer at the Tübingen Music School in Germany and previously worked as a Piano Teaching Assistant at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, supporting Professor Andreas Weber. His pedagogical approach emphasizes collaborative musicianship and stylistic integrity, and he has guided numerous students toward admission to leading international conservatories.
An active touring performer, he has presented nearly one hundred concerts across more than ten countries in Europe and Asia. His solo album Liszt Works, released with Sheva Collection, highlights his interpretive depth in Romantic repertoire. His orchestral collaborations include performances with the Niederbayerischen Philharmonie, the Stuttgart Orchestra, the Nuremberg Orchestra, the Paderewski Orchestra (Poland), the Orquesta Sinfónica del Vallès (Spain), the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, the China National Traditional Orchestra, and Taiwan's Zanying Orchestra. He has also performed under conductors including Lin Daye, Zhang Guoyong, Rasmus Baumann, Víctor Pablo Pérez, and Valery Gergiev.
He has received numerous prizes in international competitions, including: Second Prize at the Maria Canals International Music Competition in Spain—formerly recognized as a Category B competition by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the RPC—standing as one of only six Chinese prizewinners in its history; The "Best Classical Interpretation" Award (B?renreiter Urtext-Preis) at the International Piano Competition Ettlingen (Germany); First Prize and the Special Contribution Award at the Isidor Bajic International Piano Competition (Serbia); First Prize at the Ricard Vi?es International Piano Competition (Spain); First Prize in the Chamber Music category at the 2nd Swiss International Music Competition; Second Prize at the Tenerife Agustin Aponte International Piano Competition (Spain); Second Prize at the Pietro Argento International Piano Competition (Italy); Second Prize at the Enschede International Youth Piano Competition (the Netherlands); First Prize in the Professional Junior Group at the Asia Electone Competition for his original work Forbidden City.
Beyond the stage, he contributes to pedagogical discourse through writing. In 2024, he published the article The Collaborative Art of the Piano – Taking Chamber Music and Collaborative Pianist as Examples in Literary and Art Weekly, reflecting his deep commitment to ensemble practice. Since 2025, he has held the role of Worldwide Recruitment Representative for the Konzertexamen (Artistic Doctorate) program at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
